Animal Cruelty Prosecution Conference: November in Ottawa

The National Centre for the Prosecution of Animal Cruelty (NCPAC) is pleased to announce its first Animal Cruelty Prosecution Conference, taking place November 18-20, 2015, in Ottawa.

Attached is the 2015 national animal cruelty prosecution agenda for the conference, as well as the Conference Application Information and Form.

Conference Grants for Canadian Crown prosecutors NCPAC has funding to support the participation of 2 Crown prosecutors in each province and territory. Please see the attached Crown Prosecutor Grant Application Information and Form. The deadline for submitting your application form is Friday, August 28, 2015. If you are applying for the grant, you do not have to fill in the Conference Application Form.

What is the NCPAC? NCPAC provides resources to Crown prosecutors that support the successful prosecution of animal cruelty cases using the Criminal Code of Canada. NCPAC is a unique program in Canada, created in partnership with Crown prosecutors from across the country, along with allied professionals from SPCAs, humane societies, and the veterinary community.

The website for NCPAC includes several tools for prosecutors: a database of animal cruelty case law, a set of continuing legal education webinars designed by Canadian law experts, and a companion manual.
